Hi,

I would like to set up a gopherhole as an alternative to my private web
page.

As far as I remember, one of the features of pygopherd was its ability to also serve as a web server with a built-in gopher "proxy".

But if I see it correctly, gophernicus does not feature this.

Is there a gopher "proxy" available which would offer a service comparable
to pygopherd's web server but without some kind of security hole where everyone could use my server as a proxy to everywhere else?

There's a public proxy available that you can use to direct web users
to your gopher hole at
https://gopher.floodgap.com/gopher/gw
I'm not aware of any local services you could run to host a proxy yourself
..it might be out there somewhere :)

There's a public proxy available that you can use to direct web users
to your gopher hole at
https://gopher.floodgap.com/gopher/gw
I'm not aware of any local services you could run to host a proxy yourself..it might be out there somewhere :)

I also mentioned phroxy.net earlier too https://phroxy.net/gopher://gopher.erb.pw

But that's exactly what I didn't want ;-)

I'm searching for an alternative to pygopherd's web server part so that I could serve the gopher content via a web frontend.

Hmm, so I might want to use pygopherd although it seems to be inactive
since Jan 2020...
But I found an active fork which seems to is a Python3 version: https://github.com/michael-lazar/pygopherd

I have to dig into this now :)

Okay, thanks to both of you.

But that's exactly what I didn't want ;-)

I did find one a while ago, but I don't remember what it was called or
where I found it. I just remember it was written in haskell.

It worked ok, but it did crash on me a couple of times I think.
